Cat litter is a real blessing for cat parents, and even the term "cat parent" is derived from the use of cat litter. Strictly speaking, cat litter is not actually sand at all—at least many types of cat litter today have nothing to do with sand. It is a crumbly material made of various substances, with excellent water absorption, clumping and odor adsorption properties. After cats excrete waste in it, the litter will absorb moisture and unpleasant odors, and some types will clump together into solid lumps, making it easy to scoop and clean up with a small litter scoop.
